Since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian tire market has been facing supply chain bottlenecks, raw material shortages, price increases, and even labor shortages. In addition, many tire factories in Russia have withdrawn from the Russian market! This has brought development opportunities to Chinese tires, and the number of tires exported from China to Russia has increased significantly. Many Chinese tire companies are optimistic about the Russian tire market.

Russian market capacity

After a year, Nokian, Michelin, Continental and Bridgestone have all found new buyers for their Russian factories and "withdrew" from the Russian market. Since most tire companies have a low proportion of business in Russia, except for Nokian, the other three tire companies have hardly suffered any business impact.

According to Tire Business, by the end of 2023, the total production capacity of nine Russian tire companies has exceeded 55.3 million. Ikon Tyres currently has the largest production capacity; followed by J.S.C. Cordiant (JSC Cordiant), a local Russian tire company. After several expansions, the production capacity has reached 16.65 million tires, and the company can produce passenger tires, light truck tires, medium truck tires and bias tires. It is a traditional Russian tire giant.

China's tire exports to Russia surge

Chinese tire companies will increase exports to the Russian market in 2023, with export volumes increasing significantly. This is due to the huge demand in the Russian tire market and the continuous improvement of product quality and brand influence of Chinese tire companies.

Data shows that as of the end of 2023, Chinese tires' share of the Russian market will be approximately 30%, an increase of at least 20% from the beginning of 2023. This data shows that the competitiveness of Chinese tires in the Russian market continues to increase and gradually occupies an important position.

Chinese tires are well received in the Russian market

As the share of Chinese tires in the Russian market continues to increase, more and more Russian consumers are beginning to understand and recognize Chinese tire brands. This has laid a solid foundation for the long-term development of Chinese tire companies in the Russian market.

Some Russian netizens discussed and exchanged views on Chinese tires, and some netizens said: Chinese tires have good performance and high cost performance.

According to the Russian newspaper Kommersant, Russia's imports of Chinese tires continue to grow. Reports show that after the Russo-Ukrainian war, many foreign brands withdrew from the Russian market, which also increased Russia's imports of Chinese tires.
